SOCIAL RESPONSE UNIT

As a global company, Capgemini is in a position to apply its technology expertise and passion where it is needed most. Our Social Response Unit (SRU) draws on employee efforts as well as donations to launch initiatives that address natural disasters.

Supporting local communities in the face of calamity

India’s susceptibility to natural disasters like floods, cyclones, earthquakes, and droughts underscores the need for swift and effective responses. Our policy aligns with humanitarian principles, aiming to save lives, alleviate suffering, and maintain human dignity. We collaborate with government, communities, and NGOs, providing aid and support based on needs assessments. Our employees are encouraged to volunteer and receive training to assist relief efforts, ensuring a coordinated and impactful response.

Our India CSR team ran a dedicated fundraising campaign through WeKare that raised a significant contribution from our colleagues to aid and support the victims of Cyclone Michaung.

Preventing violence against women

Through many different initiatives around the Group, we strive to protect and empower women. Here is one of our most recent examples.

Campus for courage

To ensure the safety of women and children, victims of domestic violence and especially at risk during the first lockdown, we sheltered families at our Serge Kampf Les Fontaines Campus in France.

Supporting healthcare during the global pandemic

We leverage our technology expertise to contribute to different needs of patients, carers, and the healthcare industry at large.

SUPPORTING FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19

Stepping up its support in the fight against COVID-19, Capgemini partnered with the United Nations Global Compact Network India (UNGCNI) and UNICEF to provide critical Covid response care in the country. This included supplying five RTPCR testing machines, three oxygen generation plants, and supporting COVAX.

Capgemini also supported crucial medical infrastructure through 1200 oxygen concentrators across 11 cities, 246 fully equipped Intensive Care Unit (ICU) bed facilities in 12 government hospitals, and 11 oxygen generation plants in eight cities across 4 states. We also helped set up ten ICU beds with 24/7 telemonitoring by a multi-disciplinary team of critical care nurses, intensivists, and paramedical staff based at a command center.

Remote monitoring of patients

In France, Capgemini supported the Public Assistance-Hospitals of Paris (AP-HP) through the deployment of an application allowing remote monitoring of patients.

    COVID-19 test kits

In India, we developed, with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, affordable, field deployable, rapid test kits for COVID-19. This made the test result available in just 10 minutes and at a lower cost.

      Hospital cybersecurity

In the Netherlands, we contributed advice and technical expertise to the cybersecurity coalition Wij Helpen Ziekenhuizen (“We Help Hospitals”) to ensure the continuity of the health sector and its carers.

Supporting local communities throughout the pandemic, and beyond

Right across the globe, we contribute to the wellbeing of the communities in which we operate through hundreds of Group-wide and local initiatives.

Shelter and care for the homeless

In the US, we actively explored a solution to develop an infrastructure capacity tracker to help the homeless population find shelter, and track available beds and ventilators throughout the region.

          Local business support

In Norway, we supported municipalities by setting up a webpage for local businesses to upload their profiles to promote their offerings to communities in Oslo, Bergen, and Stavanger.

            Food distribution

In Italy, we supported Fondazione Banco Alimentare ONLUS. This coordinates the Banco Alimentare Network and oversees the distribution of food to people and families in difficulty through the National Banco Alimentare’s municipal operations centers.
